July 8th to 11th 2010: Musta (Black) Pispala
Anarchist counter-culture festival Black Pispala will be held this year during the second weekend of July. Events will take place around Pispala, Tampere (Finland), including Hirvitalo, Kurpitsatalo, Vastavirta-klubi, and Pub Kujakolli.
The festival program will focus in particular on the analysis of anarchist organization and planning as well as sharing practical skills through workshops relating to local plant use, first aid and other things.
The discussions concerning organization are intended to provide an overview of past and current anarchist projects and initiate plans for future activities and cooperative endeavors. Some workshops will present different projects and discuss ways in which organization can occur in different situations. We invite people involved in past and current projects to share their experiences.
In addition to the workshops there will be food, celebrating and gigs, of which some are free and have no age limit. The program also accounts for children and their parents. We will also try our best to provide child care during workshops. A book-fair will be held during the festival, and we welcome all distros and other vendors of literature to join.
Accommodation will be available at various locations. Please let us know if you need a place to stay. In addition, please mention any special requests or important information: whether you have animals or children with you, allergies, etc.
Anarchy in Karelia! Introduction of a community housing project.
Bike kitchen -- together we’re learning the basic bike-fixing skills by repairing old bikes.
Anarchism and fiction -- a brief and arguably entertaining evening with Margaret Killjoy, editor of Mythmakers & Lawbreakers.
Movies of Art-Laboratory, a Yerevanian artist activist group, and a presentation about the political situation in Armenia.
Please note that changes and further information will be added weekly before the festival! There is also still room for workshops and other events. If you would like to organize something, or otherwise be involved in planning the festival, please contact us as soon as possible at: mustapispala (at) takku (dot) net
July 14th to 20th 2010: Nordic Climate Action Camp
Linking our struggles for climate, food, autonomous spaces, equality, self-governance etc; supporting and strengthening each other and taking collective action. Take part in creating a Nordic Climate Action Camp this summer!
The Nordic Climate Action Camp will be located in Skåne in Southern Sweden, from the 14th to the 20th of July 2010.
It will be a camp of direct actions targeting the oppressive and destructive system of capitalism and furthering grassroots alternatives.
We want to physically stop the destruction of our lives and our planet, while also showing concrete alternatives and ways of living and learning. The Camp focuses on disrupting Shell’s gas drillings in Skåne, which is in an early phase and can still be stopped.
We will create and develop the camp together based on decentralized structures. We will take collective responsibility for kitchen, infrastructure (water and renewable electricity production), building, DIY workshops, and running the common spaces (tent, tree platform or whatever we would like). We also encourage anyone who has great ideas for actions, events or any other creative expressions to prepare beforehand and bring it along to the Camp. We support diversity of tactics, so don’t be shy!
If you want to get involved before the camp, contact us at camp10 (at) riseup.net.
Here you find further info on the exact location, how to get there and the Camp programme.
Bring ideas, get engaged!
With love from the Nordic Climate Action Camp group
July 25th to August 1st 2010: War starts here
The northern parts of Sweden are getting more and more interesting for armed forces of states who want to practice for ongoing and future wars. Last year in June, the NATO Response Force (NRF) did their largest air exercise of 2009. This summer, USAFE, the U.S. military in Europe, will come to the area of Norrbotten in northern Sweden to practice bombdropping. The United States is by far the leading state of warfare, with ongoing occupation wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan and involvement in most armed conflicts in the world. This summer 20 warcrafts and 200-250 soldiers will use north of Sweden to train and prepare for these wars. The exercise will probably take place two weeks in late July/beginning August.
Of course the antimilitaristic network Ofog does not want the world’s armed forces to practice bombing and other war scenarios in Sweden or any other place. We will do whatever we can to disrupt their war exercises and make it as difficult as possible for the United States, NATO and others to prepare for war. We will take direct action to interfere with the war exercise and also stimulate debate on the issue through actions in the town of Luleå.
But we need your help to stop the world’s largest army. Please contact us at info (at) ofog.org if you want to come to the action camp and if you can help with anything beforehand.
For practical info and more check out Ofog.
Together we can stop the war!
